In 1858, two years before the American Civil War, German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) buys a slave named Django (Jamie Foxx) from a slave trader to free him. Schultz intends to train Django as a bounty hunter to help capture various criminals in exchange for a reward. Django's only condition is to rescue his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) from the brutal plantation owner Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). This film is Quentin Tarantino's homage to the classic Italian Western "Django," directed by Sergio Corbucci in 1966. Director Quentin Tarantino delivers another monumental work after "Inglourious Basterds," having spent three years perfecting this film. It continues Tarantino's trademark style of low-key luxury, featuring imaginative humor and bloody, wild action scenes, along with an ensemble cast and a lavish production, making it a must-see. "Django Unchained" won the 85th Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and Christoph Waltz received the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. The film was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound Editing at the 85th Academy Awards.
