Feeling disheartened at work, Manhattan downtown development company employee Julie Powell (played by Amy Adams) decides to spend a year trying out all 524 recipes from America’s most popular television chef Julia Child (played by Meryl Streep) in her first cookbook, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking," and blogs about her daily progress. Meanwhile, the film interweaves Julia Child's story of moving to Paris in 1948 with her husband Paul Child (played by Stanley Tucci), who was working for the U.S. Information Agency, as she learns to cook and spends a decade enduring hardships to publish the over 700-page "Mastering the Art of French Cooking." In imitating Julia Child’s journey, Julie Powell ultimately finds herself, and as her blog gains popularity, even Julia becomes aware of Julie's existence, but the outcome is unexpected for Julie.
