Li Qingzhao (played by Xie Fang) is the daughter of a deputy official in the Li family. At a poetry event, she captures the attention of Zhao Mingcheng, the son of the prime minister, with her talent. Soon, the two, who share a mutual admiration, come together. However, not long after their marriage, Zhao Mingcheng leaves his wife and embarks on a journey dedicated to the study of epigraphy and archaeology. After losing contact with her husband, Li Qingzhao does not sit idle but sets off on a quest to find him with her maid, Xiangling. The iron hooves of the Jin invaders trample upon the tranquility of the Central Plains. Zhang Ruzhou (played by Jiang Gengchen) secretly betrays his country to protect his interests and even causes Zhao Mingcheng's death. Not only that, but he also kidnaps Li Qingzhao. In the end, to save her master, Xiangling sacrifices her own life, witnessing her loved ones continuously die. With a heart numb from grief, Li Qingzhao begins a solitary life, pouring all her anger into her creations.
