On an ordinary night, John (played by Scott Adkins) is attacked in his home by several masked intruders. He suffers a brutal beating, bloodied and in excruciating pain, while his wife and beloved daughter are shot in front of him by the assailants. After being in a coma for several months, John awakens and vividly remembers the face of the masked leader who had revealed his true identity. He learns from the FBI agent handling the case that the man is named Luke Devarlox (played by Jean-Claude Van Damme), a once formidable soldier. John cannot fathom the reason behind this tragedy. Returning home, memories of happier times flood back, causing him immense pain. Meanwhile, Luke haunts John's psyche like a specter, as he attempts to uncover the truth, only to discover that the seemingly undeniable memories are, in fact, deceptive. Meanwhile, Luke has formed an armed anti-government group with a number of previously manipulated soldiers, plotting to overthrow their oppressive rulers...
