For a long time, Niki (Daniel Brühl) and James (Chris Hemsworth) have been fierce rivals. Niki is serious and respects the profession of racing, while James is a risk-taker who uses racing as a means to pursue pleasure. Despite their completely different personalities, their competition has never stopped. In an effort to change his immature character, James marries the model Susie (Olivia Wilde) whom he encounters by chance, while Niki finds his lifelong love and joins the Ferrari team. At this time, James, whose life is on a downward spiral, joins the McLaren team, and the two foes find themselves once again on the battlefield of life. During a race, a heavy rainstorm causes Niki to crash and suffer serious injuries, allowing James to win the championship. However, Niki does not give up; despite being urged by many to stop, he resolutely returns to the track in a very short time.
