Pierre Lachenay (played by Jean Desailly) is a married writer and magazine editor who becomes infatuated with the beautiful flight attendant Nicole (played by Françoise Dorléac) during a business trip. By chance, they meet at the same hotel. Pierre invites Nicole out for a drink, and they talk all night, soon falling deeply in love. When Pierre returns to Paris, Nicole leaves her phone number in his notebook. Back home, Pierre secretly contacts Nicole behind his wife Franca's (played by Nelly Benedetti) back.
