The film tells a heartwarming yet tear-jerking story of two small characters, Erbao and Sanbao, who accidentally participated in an anti-Japanese drama and journey from a rural area in Shaanxi to Guangzhou in search of the production team. Erbao (played by Li Lubing), who dreams of becoming the world's gambling king, and Sanbao (played by Chai Lu), who idolizes Stephen Chow, set off for Guangzhou after their unexpected role in the anti-Japanese drama. Upon arriving in Guangzhou, they encounter Xiao Wen and Niu Niu, who work in a bird’s nest shop, and develop feelings for each other during their interactions. Erbao initially engages in a bet with a con artist, Jia Jia (played by Jia Xuming), to make a living, but inadvertently gets caught up in a gambling showdown orchestrated by Fei Xue (played by Lin Xue) and Huo Niao (played by Liu Xuhao) due to gang rivalries, all under the guise of the film crew. As a series of conspiracies gradually surface, Erbao and Sanbao unexpectedly realize their dreams. The film showcases the resilience and determination of ordinary people, provoking thought while reinforcing Stephen Chow's life philosophy: "If one has no dreams, how is that different from a salted fish?"
