During the Korean War, in a remote mountain village called Dongmo near Gangwon-do, the people lived in isolation from the outside world, leading a self-sufficient life, completely unaware of the war taking place outside. South Korean soldiers, Jeon Hyeon-cheol (played by Shin Ha-kyun) and medic Moon Sang-sang (played by Seo Jae-kyung), ended up in Dongmo Village after escaping from their unit and falling behind. Meanwhile, North Korean People's Army soldiers, Lee Soo-hwa (played by Jung Jae-young) and veteran Jang Yong-hee (played by Lim Ha-ryong), along with young soldier Seo Jeok-ki, also arrived in Dongmo Village. Prior to that, due to a plane crash, American pilot Captain Smith (played by Stephen Thais) had also come to the village. When the soldiers from both sides meet, tensions run high, but gradually they reach a truce, agreeing not to attack each other, although animosity remains.
