This film was shot in 1953 and is adapted from Mark Twain's novel "The Million Pound Bank Note." Two brothers from a wealthy family withdraw a one-million-pound banknote from the bank to test the outcome for a poor man who comes into possession of this enormous banknote. The older brother believes that the banknote is worthless to a poor man and that he will ultimately remain impoverished; the younger brother believes that the poor man will escape his circumstances and live a prosperous life because of the banknote. To prove the validity of their theories, the brothers make a bet. They leave the banknote to a destitute American young man, Henry Adams (played by Gregory Peck), before traveling abroad, leaving Henry confused about his future. People desperately try to win over this suddenly wealthy rarity, offering him free meals, clothing, and accommodations, all treating him like a beggar while constantly elevating his social status. Moreover, this lucky young man also marries a good wife and earns three thousand pounds in bank interest, leading to a life of great happiness.
