Nicholas (played by Peter Van den Begin) has always maintained a serious demeanor in front of the public as the King of Belgium, which has led to criticism from the media for not being approachable. To address this issue, Nicholas decides to visit Turkey. The Queen (played by Nathalie Laroche) hires documentary filmmaker Duncan (played by Pieter van den Hoogenband) to accompany them and film, hoping that this documentary will change Nicholas's image in the eyes of the people. Unexpectedly, during the visit, the Walloon region of Belgium suddenly declares independence, catching Nicholas off guard. In a hurry to return home, he finds himself stuck in Turkey due to a flight delay. Eager to return, the king decides to travel home over land through the Balkans.
