During the Iraq War, 19-year-old technical specialist Billy Lynn (played by Joe Alwyn) from Texas becomes a household name due to a randomly filmed video. It captures a small but intense skirmish where Lynn's squad leader (played by Vin Diesel) is ambushed and taken hostage by local insurgents. Lynn risks everything to charge into battle to rescue his leader. The release of the video turns him into a national hero adored by the public, yet few understand the experiences he and his comrades have gone through. To bury their leader, the squad is granted a brief leave, allowing them to be invited to a football game in Texas. Lynn's sister feels guilty over an incident and hopes her brother can return to a normal life through this opportunity. Meanwhile, agents, fans, big bosses, and ordinary people have various misconceptions about war, patriotism, and soldiers. As the grand celebration unfolds in the stadium, Lynn and his comrades feel increasingly burdened and anxious... This film is adapted from the novel of the same name by author Ben Fountain.
