In 1966, a ship floating in the North Atlantic became the headquarters of a rock radio station beloved by British listeners. Carl (played by Tom Sturridge), who dropped out of school due to drug use, is sent here by his mother Charlotte (played by Emma Thompson), where he meets music-loving free spirits like Quentin (played by Bill Nighy), The Count (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman), and Dave (played by Nick Frost).
