In the beautiful seaside town of Hengchun, young man A-Jia (范逸臣), whose musical dreams were shattered in Taipei, watches everything with indifference. Although he became a substitute postman with the help of his father, a local representative, he piles letters and packages messily in his room. When a package from Japan couldn't be delivered, he didn't follow the old postman Mao-Bo (林宗仁)'s instructions to return it but instead opened it privately: inside, besides a yellowed photo of a girl, were several letters written 60 years ago. At that time, Japan had been defeated in World War II, and a Japanese teacher (中孝介) abandoned his girlfriend, who was set to elope, while fleeing with the Japanese army. On his way back to Japan, he turned his love and regret into words, but the letters were only sent by his daughter after his death.
The Japanese girl Yuzi (田中千绘), who studied and worked in Taiwan, aspired to be a model but was deemed outdated and could only serve as the public relations officer for the Japanese super "healing singer" 中孝介's (中孝介) performance in Hengchun. As is customary, there would be a band to warm up before 中孝介's performance. Yuzi originally contacted a Japanese band, but the local representative insisted on using a local band. Reluctantly, Yuzi teamed up with several local music enthusiasts, including A-Jia, who varied greatly in age, occupation, and personality: a traffic cop (民雄) who lost his happy life due to an accident, a shop assistant (夹子小应) secretly in love with the shop owner, and a precocious young girl (麦子). Since none of the others had stage performance experience, conflicts frequently arose in the hastily formed band, causing Yuzi to often be infuriated, with A-Jia being the one she was most frustrated with.
With adjustments, band members—Mao-Bo and a seller of Hakka millet wine, Ma La-San (马念先)—successively replaced the bassist, and with rehearsals constantly going awry, the day of 中孝介's arrival in Taiwan grew closer. Disappointed with A-Jia, Yuzi decided to give up her job in Taiwan and return to Japan, but feelings had developed between them through their frictions. Soon, Yuzi discovered those letters from 60 years ago in A-Jia's room and was completely touched by the beautiful love story, urging A-Jia to ensure the letters reach the rightful recipient. Although they did not openly express their feelings, the power of love was undoubtedly immense, and A-Jia regained the courage to pursue his musical dreams because of Yuzi. As the performance of 中孝介 was about to begin, the owner's address was found, and A-Jia was informed by Yuzi that she had received a job offer from a Japanese record company.
