A small employee at a big company, Dick (played by Jim Carrey), finally experiences a stroke of luck when he is promoted to vice president by the president, Jack. Finally having made something of himself, Dick enjoys life to the fullest while his wife, Jane (played by Tea Leoni), quits her job to become a full-time housewife. However, Dick soon finds out that he is just a scapegoat for the company; not long after, a financial scandal erupts, and president Jack absconds with a large sum of money. Due to Dick's savings being invested in the company's stock, he suddenly finds himself worth nothing. Faced with life's challenges, Dick and Jane decide to become "Bonnie and Clyde." They occasionally rob coffee shops just to get two cups of coffee and two snacks; at night, Dick sneaks into neighbors’ yards to steal small patches of grass to lay in his own yard. Though their life is poor, the couple is filled with happiness. One day, Dick and Jane decide to take action against Jack, who has embezzled a large fortune. Is it as simple as they imagined?
