Every train driver will hit and kill more than 20 people during their career, with victims typically dying due to suicide, mistakes, intoxication, or merely by accident. Ilija is a soon-to-retire train driver who has hit and killed 28 people. His 19-year-old adopted son Sima has taken over his job, and Sima is very worried he will also hit someone. Veteran drivers comfort him by saying it will happen within a week, but weeks pass without an incident, leaving him extremely tense. To help him, Ilija finds many people who want to commit suicide and encourages them to jump onto the tracks, but ultimately, these individuals give up on their suicidal thoughts. In desperation, Ilija lies down on the tracks himself, hoping to save Sima through his own death…
