The story takes place in June 1940 in Paris, France, where single mother Odile (Emmanuelle Béart) is anxiously caring for her two children, Philippe (Grégoire Leprince-Ringuet) and Cassie (Clémence Meyer), as the threat of war looms closer. The inevitable arrives when the sound of gunfire echoes through the streets, prompting this strong mother to join the fleeing crowd without hesitation.
