In an ordinary Italian town, a middle-aged man named Marcello runs a pet cleaning shop called "Dogman." Marcello is a good person; he respects the weak, works diligently, and has a good reputation among friends and neighbors. Although his daughter lives with his ex-wife, he maintains a good father-daughter relationship. On the surface, Marcello appears to be a genuine, ordinary honest man. However, he has many bad friends, one of whom is Simon. After being released from prison, Simon starts extorting and quickly disrupts the peace of the neighborhood, ultimately causing Marcello to end up in jail. After his release, Marcello faces discrimination and insults. He seeks help from Simon but is met with brutality.
