During the War of Liberation, the base of the guerrilla troops in northern Guangdong. Ye Yongmao (played by Zhong Shuhuang) was sent by his superiors to approach the mixed armed forces controlled by Ma Long (played by Guo Zhenqing) to mobilize them for an uprising and accept the Communist Party's incorporation. After incorporation, it was named "Independent Brigade," but Ma remained wary of Ye and the guerrilla troops. Additionally, his sworn brother Diao Feihu (played by Pang Xueqin) obstructed them, making him hesitant about the revolution.
