Harold (John Cho), a cautious and shy Korean-American junior analyst working in investment banking, finds himself overwhelmed with work on what should be a relaxing weekend. Meanwhile, his friend Kumar (Kal Penn), a young Indian man from a family of doctors, messes up another hospital interview, as he refuses to give up his carefree student life to pursue medicine. That night, after smoking some marijuana, Harold and Kumar get really hungry, and a burger ad from "White Castle" sparks their interest. They drive out to find that the closest White Castle has been closed for four years; nonetheless, driven by their cravings, they decide to search for White Castle at all costs. Their journey across New Jersey leads them to appreciate their friendship even more...
