The years of youth are colorful yet melancholic, while the adult world is filled with disappointment and helplessness. 15-year-old boy Pär (Rolf Sohlman) usually helps at his father's (Bertil Norström) garage and occasionally visits his lonely grandfather in a nursing home with his family. The girl Annikki (Ann-Sofie Kylin) has a proudly unsuccessful father who sells refrigerators (Bertil Norström) and a beautiful aunt (Anita Lindblom) who can't become a flight attendant due to her height; the disappointments in these adults' hearts far outweigh their life achievements. In contrast, the adolescent Pär and Annikki are restless and uninhibited. The two children meet at an open-air party in the nursing home and gradually come together. Pär pretends to ignore Annikki after being beaten up by older kids, but can the fireworks of youth extinguish so easily? They eventually reconcile and together savor the bitterness and sweetness brought by the fruits of their naive love... This film was nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival and won four awards, including the International Critics' Prize, the UNICRIT Prize, the IWG Golden Plaque, and the Best Film Gold Award at the Gothenburg Film Festival in Sweden.
