The news of his mother's impending release fills Liam (played by Martin Compston) with joy, as he understands that she is innocent and has suffered imprisonment merely to take the blame for her scoundrel boyfriend, Stan (played by Gary McCormack). Before his mother is released, Liam has many tasks to accomplish; he hopes she can truly gain her freedom, which means she must stay away from anyone who might pull her back down, including Stan and Liam's grandfather. In Liam's plan, he intends to take his mother to the countryside to start a new life, but for this plan to succeed, money is an essential prerequisite. Thus, Liam and his friends begin to find ways to make money, even getting involved in some illegal transactions, and before he knows it, the money-driven Liam suddenly realizes he has fallen into deep trouble.
