The story takes place in 1929 in the interior region of Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia, where indigenous shepherd Sam (played by Hamilton Morris) lives with his master, Harry (played by Ewen Leslie), a white veteran returned from World War I. Harry is violent and abuses the laborers, and ultimately Sam shoots him in self-defense. Following this, Sam embarks on a difficult journey of escape with his pregnant wife. They navigate the magnificent desert of the interior, cleverly evading law enforcement that is relentlessly pursuing them using their survival skills in the wilderness. This escape journey is fraught with danger and difficulties, as they must overcome the brutal nature and the cruelty of their pursuers. However, to protect his wife's health and their unborn child, Sam ultimately decides to turn himself in and accept the fate of interrogation. In a society based on white supremacy, can the interrogation truly demonstrate real fairness and justice?
