In 19th century England, class divisions are quite pronounced. One day, Lucy (played by Helena Bonham Carter), a girl from the upper class, is on holiday in Florence with her cousin Charlotte. Unfortunately, the room Lucy is staying in at the hotel has no view. At the same time, a father-son duo, George (played by Julian Sands) and his father, also staying at the hotel, notice this and the kind father offers to switch rooms with Lucy because his room has a view.
