Has's color film, a sister piece to "The Manuscript Found in Saragossa," which I personally feel suits his style better in color; this film is even more outstanding than "Sar." It is an inner adventure. The story is set in the early days of World War II, where a young man takes a strange train to visit his dying father in a sanatorium. However, this place, about to be demolished, evokes many memories from his past. He is surrounded by past soldiers, mercenaries from the colonies, girls from his former life, and his parents... Awards: Best Production Design at the Polish Film Awards Cannes Film Festival Jury Prize and nominated for the Palme d'Or
