Benjamin Esposito (played by Ricardo Darín) is a retired prosecutor whose decades of judicial experience have allowed him to gather a wealth of material. However, a decades-old rape and murder case has remained on his mind, and he hopes to publish a book about it to fulfill his wish. Twenty-five years ago, the beautiful 23-year-old teacher Liliana Colotto (played by Carla Quevedo) fell in love with bank employee Rueda Morales (played by Pablo Rago). Just as they were planning to marry, Liliana was brutally raped and murdered in her apartment. At that time, judicial corruption led Benjamin's colleagues to hastily pin the blame on an innocent immigrant. Perhaps shaken by the crime scene of Liliana's death, Benjamin stubbornly begins an investigation, thus becoming embroiled in this intricate web of love, hate, and suspicion... The film won the Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards in 2010, as well as the Audience Award, Best Actor Award (Ricardo Darín), Best Director Award, Best Music Award, and Special Jury Prize at the 2009 Havana Film Festival.
