In the early years of the Republic of China, the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty, Puyi, was controlled by the Japanese and established a puppet Manchukuo government in the north. The Japanese, Itagaki Seishiro and Kawashima Yoshiko, established a poison gas base, brutalizing the Chinese people. One day, Uncle Cai, who had military experience and had practiced medicine, was entrusted by the locals to go into the jungle to save people. Along the way, he faced numerous dangers and discovered a group of soldiers poisoned by gas. Uncle Cai tried his best to rescue them, but their commander was beyond help. Before dying, he entrusted the responsibility of resisting the enemy to Meng Dahai. Eager to serve his country, Uncle Cai attempted to enlist but was refused. Uncle Cai infiltrated the palace, disguised as a cook, and re-encountered Meng Dahai and others. Their goal was to find the map of the poison gas base by locating the "Heavenly Phoenix No. 1" on the Yangtze River, but their actions were discovered by Itagaki Seishiro and Kawashima Yoshiko. Thus, Uncle Cai and the others fled to another place, and along the way, Uncle Cai rescued a woman named Lan. They gathered their forces and prepared to launch a major assault on the poison gas base. After several intense battles, they finally achieved victory.
