In a small town in Wales, housewife Betty and funeral director Boris do not want to face their unfulfilled feelings for each other, as Betty is married to the depraved mayor, despite their marriage being merely a formality. Days slowly pass until the mayor's mother chokes to death, which, due to the funeral arrangements, brings Boris and Betty back together. This time, they decide to be true to their feelings but do not want to create chaos, so they plan for Betty to fake her death and elope together on a luxury cruise to an island in the South Pacific. However, things become even more complicated when the mayor and his mistress Maridys plot to kill Betty to inherit her vast estate and insurance money. Meanwhile, Frank Featherbay wants to monopolize the town's funeral business with an exaggerated Vegas-style flair, complete with tap dancing performances, dazzling sequined decorations, and buy one get one free deals.
