Gao Jin (played by Chow Yun-fat) comes to Hong Kong to duel with the gambling demon, but unexpectedly, upon arrival, he is pursued by Brother Nan (played by Yang Zelin) and falls into a trap, resulting in amnesia. Fortunately, he is rescued by Dao Zai (played by Andy Lau) and his girlfriend, Zhen (played by Joey Wong). They take Gao Jin back to their home to recuperate, and upon discovering his proficiency in gambling, they are thrilled and want to use him to make big money, but instead, they lose money due to Gao Jin’s inconsistent performance. Gao Jin’s wife is insulted and murdered by his cousin, Gao Yi, after he gets drunk. Gao Yi then teams up with Brother Nan to plot against Gao Jin, searching for his hiding places to pursue him. While on the run, Gao Jin gets into an accident and is injured, leading him to regain his memory—yet he cannot remember anything that occurred during his amnesia. Dao Zai reminds him that Gao Yi is not a good person, but Gao Jin remains oblivious, unaware of the imminent danger.
