The story takes place in a dimly lit, sparsely populated theater, where the playwright Thomas (played by Mathieu Amalric) is searching for a suitable lead actress for his adaptation of "Venus in Fur." The actresses he auditions one after another leave him disappointed, as they are far from the perfect goddess image he has in his mind. Just as Thomas is about to leave after his unfruitful auditions, a disheveled woman drenched from the rain bursts into the theater. The woman's name is Vanda (played by Emmanuelle Seigner), and coincidentally, she shares the same name as the character in Thomas's script. However, her rude demeanor and shallow knowledge lead Thomas to inwardly dismiss her. To Thomas's surprise, Vanda not only has the complete script but also brings her own costume. After much insistence from Vanda, Thomas agrees to her request for an audition and decides to act alongside her. Thus, amidst torrential rain, a captivating play about men and women, command and compliance, unfolds.
