Wong Jing Wai (portrayed by Ronald Cheng) is an avant-garde director from Hong Kong in the 1990s, but he has a low opinion of Cantonese films from the 1960s. Unexpectedly, he travels back in time to the 1960s, where he is informed by the renowned director Chor Yuen that he can return to his own time if he can shoot a popular film during this era. Although Wong Jing Wai feels quite helpless, he meets the yet-to-be-famous duo Lee Kei (portrayed by Louis Koo) and Cheh Yuen (portrayed by Anthony Wong).
