During the Anti-Japanese War, railway worker Li Yuhe (played by Hao Liang) bears the heavy responsibility of assisting underground party couriers. Although his daughter, Tie Mei (voiced by Liu Changyu), is young, she is influenced by her surroundings and shares the same patriotism and revolutionary fervor as her non-biological grandpa and grandma (played by Gao Yuqian). That night, a courier carrying important codes is forced to jump from a train and is shot by Japanese soldiers. Li Yuhe carries him back home, but is unable to save his life. Meanwhile, the Japanese military police captain, Jiushan (played by Yuan Shihai), is ordered to conduct a city-wide search to find the crucial coded message. At a critical moment, a traitor emerges from the revolutionary ranks, and Jiushan targets Li Yuhe to retrieve the codes, employing ruthless methods. The Li family's three generations face the most severe test of their revolutionary spirit... This drama is adapted from the film "The Later Generations" and is one of the eight model operas during the Cultural Revolution.
