The overnight flight is named the "Red Eye" because most passengers stay up late, causing their eyes to be bloodshot. Lisa, a senior executive at the Lex Atlantic Hotel (played by Rachel McAdams), has to take her least favorite red-eye flight today, as she must rush back to work at the hotel after attending her grandmother's funeral tomorrow.
Lisa is in luck, as she meets the handsome and charming Jackson (played by Cillian Murphy) at the airport, and they hit it off over the course of two days. To Lisa's surprise, they are on the same red-eye flight and sitting next to each other. Just when she thought a beautiful romance was about to unfold, Lisa never expected the initially suave Jackson to reveal his sinister side. It turns out Jackson is part of a terrorist group and is headed to assassinate a high-ranking official of the security department staying at the Lex Atlantic Hotel. Now, the terrorists have kidnapped Lisa's father and are demanding that Lisa, the hotel director, assist Jackson in carrying out this assassination mission. Under the terrorists' threat, where will Lisa go from here?
