28-year-old PhD student Omar (played by Omar Metwally) decides to write a biographical novel about the writer Julios Gande, his future and career tightly linked to this novel. According to relevant records, Julios has already committed suicide, and the only three people left in the world with a connection to Julios are his brother Adam (played by Anthony Hopkins), his wife Caroline (played by Laura Linney), and his mistress Aiden (played by Charlotte Gainsbourg). For some reason, all three have declined Omar's request for authorization to write the novel. Upon the persuasion of his girlfriend Tildy (played by Alexandra Maria Lara), a reluctant Omar decides to personally visit them at their mansion in a remote town in Uruguay. Omar's arrival breaks the tranquility of the town, and a long-buried past gradually resurfaces.
