The friendly and cautious New Zealand team leader Rob Hall (played by Jason Clarke), whose team is called "Adventure Consultants," competes with the humorous and quirky Scott Fischer (played by Jake Gyllenhaal), who leads the "Mountain Madness" climbing team from Seattle. They compete against each other while also helping one another. The warriors from both teams come from various walks of life, including a postman, a journalist, a doctor, and a professional woman from Japan. These climbers appear ordinary, but each has a personal dream that motivates them to ascend over 8,000 meters to the oxygen-thin summit of Mount Everest. During the climb, their physical abilities rapidly decline, and as they face exhaustion, hypoxia, and snow blindness, they unfortunately encounter a fierce snowstorm, putting their lives at stake. The film is based on a true expedition that took place in 1996.
