Prison warden Paul (Tom Hanks) welcomes an extraordinary murderer this day — John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan). John was sentenced to death for killing two young girls and arrived at the famous Cold Mountain Prison, where there is a green area known as "the Green Mile," right before the execution chamber. John is not the brutal figure one might expect; on the contrary, he is remarkably gentle and intelligent. His arrival brings dramatic changes to the lives of the inmates: it infuses life into old inmate Trevor's little mouse, providing Trevor with his final comfort in life; miraculously saves Paul and Melinda from their suffering; and pulls Percy back from the clutches of death...
