The girl Catherine (played by AnnaSophia Robb), who lost her father at a young age, becomes extremely rebellious during her adolescence. Her terrible behavior causes headaches for her school, mother, and stepfather. Therefore, regardless of Catherine's consent, her mother insists on sending her to Blackwood Boarding School, run by Miss DuReith (Uma Thurman).
