The story takes place in France in 1971, where Daphné (Izïa Higelin) is the daughter of a farmer. Unwilling to accept the future that her parents have arranged for her, the strong-willed Daphné chooses to run away from home and heads alone to the bustling metropolis of Paris, seeking to carve out her own place in the world. In Paris, Daphné encounters Carol (Cécile De France), a fighter dedicated to the feminist movement. As time goes by, the two break down gender boundaries and become romantically involved. When the news of her father's stroke breaks, Daphné must bid farewell to Carol and return to her hometown. Unable to bear the pain of longing, Carol travels all the way to the farm, hoping to start a pastoral life with Daphné, working from sunrise to sunset. However, their special relationship soon faces criticism from those around them, putting Daphné in a dilemma.
