In 1927, underground party member Qian Zhuangfei (played by Kong Xiangyu) left Beiping disguised as a doctor to protect himself and moved to Shanghai. After arriving in Shanghai, Qian Zhuangfei lost contact with the party. However, he caught the attention of his fellow townsman, Xu Enzeng, who is the cousin of the Nationalist Central Secretariat Chen Lifang. Xu Enzeng invited Qian Zhuangfei to join the Central Party Affairs Investigation Section and appreciated his talents. Soon after, Qian Zhuangfei re-established contact with the underground organization and received permission from the center to infiltrate the enemy's ranks and remain undercover for an extended period.
Within the secret organization of the Nationalist party, Qian Zhuangfei gradually won Xu Enzeng's trust, successfully decrypted important intelligence, and prevented a raid on the underground organization in Shanghai triggered by Gu Shunzhang's betrayal. Qian Zhuangfei safely withdrew from Shanghai and went to the Central Soviet Area to join the Red Army. This experience showcases Qian Zhuangfei's wit and bravery during his undercover operation, as well as the determination and spirit of sacrifice of underground party members striving for the revolutionary cause in difficult times.
