Neo-Nazi skinhead Adam (played by Ulrich Thomsen) is sent to a remote church for community service, where he encounters a variety of strange people. However, the most troublesome for him is the pious and stern priest Ivan (played by Mads Mikkelsen). The unruly Adam feels completely helpless in front of Ivan. As part of his service, Adam chooses to tend to an apple tree and agrees with the priest to make an apple pie using the harvest from autumn. However, various natural and man-made disasters continuously threaten the growth of the apples. Ivan believes this is the work of the devil, while Adam thinks it is simply God's prank… This film was nominated for Best Screenplay at the 2005 European Film Awards; it also received nominations for Best Film and Best Supporting Actor at the 2006 Danish Critic's Awards. Mads Mikkelsen won the Zulu Award for Best Actor for his role as the priest.
