Neo-Nazi skinhead Adam (played by Ulrich Thomsen) is sent to a remote church for community service, where he encounters a variety of strange people. However, the most troublesome for him is the pious and stern priest Ivan (played by Mads Mikkelsen). The unruly Adam feels completely helpless in front of Ivan. As part of his service, Adam chooses to tend to an apple tree and agrees with the priest to make an apple pie using the harvest from autumn.
