Lin Chao-rong (played by Leslie Cheung) is an insurance broker who has just been fired. The lows in his career and disappointments in love lead him back to the arms of his old friend Yuen Sze-shing's (played by Tony Leung Ka-fai) sister, and he borrows money from his old friend to gamble in Macau to turn his life around. Although he returns empty-handed, he meets a big boss (played by Cheng Kar-kwan) who appreciates him and falls for the boss's mistress (played by Rosamund Kwan). To help the boss make money, Lin Chao-rong decides to sell the nursing home he has been holding onto, regardless of Yuen Sze-shing's objections.
