A spaceship crashes in a small town near Washington, and when people wake up, they find that those around them have become cold and strange. Psychiatrist Carol (played by Nicole Kidman) and her assistant Ben (played by Daniel Craig) go through many trials and discover that this change is due to an alien virus infection.
