Prominent television host Georges (played by Daniel Auteuil) and his wife Anne (played by Juliette Binoche) live a peaceful life with their son Pierre, which is shattered when Georges finds a videotape at their front door showing someone quietly watching their every move. Soon, more videotapes and threatening postcards arrive for Georges and his family. Tense and apprehensive about the unseen enemy, Georges begins to carefully protect his son, recalling the content of the tapes and remembering a long-ago Algerian orphan, Majid, who almost became his mother's adopted son. Suspecting that Majid is behind the tapes, Georges decides to visit him, leading to an unexpected conclusion… This film won the Best Director Award at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, along with over twenty other professional accolades.
