According to legend, at the top of Malan Mountain, there grows a precious flower called Malan, which can bring happiness to diligent and brave people. At the foot of the mountain lives an old man Wang (played by Li Baoluo) with his family. He has two daughters: Da Lan (played by Wang Bei), who is lazy and gluttonous, and Xiao Lan (also played by Wang Bei), who is frugal and kind-hearted. Xiao Lan desperately wants to see the true form of the Malan flower. To fulfill his daughter's wish, the old man Wang decides to climb Malan Mountain to pick a Malan flower for Xiao Lan. However, unexpectedly, at the top of the mountain, old man Wang loses his balance and falls off the cliff. Fortunately, this scene is witnessed by Ma Lang (played by Liu Anggu), who saves old man Wang.
Through their conversation, Ma Lang learns that old man Wang is the father of the girl he admires, Xiao Lan. Thus, he uses the Malan flower as a token to propose to Xiao Lan, which delights old man Wang. At the same time, the evil wolf (played by Dong Ming) covets the magical power of the Malan flower and begins to plot.
