Daniel (played by Matthew Macfadyen) is a struggling writer who has always lived in the shadow of his successful brother Robert (played by Rupert Graves). Tasked with organizing his father's funeral while silently bearing the responsibility of supporting their parents, he finds himself overshadowed by his brother's presence. The somber and sacred occasion is further disrupted by his cousin's fiancé, the hapless Simon (played by Alan Tudyk), who accidentally ingests hallucinogenic drugs, creating chaos. However, a greater crisis arises when a mysterious dwarf (played by Peter Dinklage) appears, attempting to blackmail Daniel with evidence that could ruin his father's reputation. It turns out Daniel's father was gay, a secret that seems poised to be revealed after his death. Amidst the turmoil, the funeral proceeds intermittently. The dramatic mix of sadness and humor subtly reveals the significance of the funeral—honoring the deceased with love while allowing the living to bury their unsatisfactory past.
