During the Tang Dynasty, demons ran rampant, and a small fishing village suffering from the harassment of fish demons invited a Taoist priest (Feng Mianheng) to exorcise the demons. The young exorcist Chen Xuanzang (Wen Zhang) came to help but was mistaken for a fraud. Fortunately, the professional bounty exorcist Miss Duan (Shu Qi) helped Xuanzang subdue the true form of the fish demon (Li Shangzheng). The two met again in Gaojia Village to deal with the pig demon Zhu Ganglie (Chen Bingqiang), but this exorcism failed. However, Miss Duan fell in love with Xuanzang at first sight. Xuanzang sought help from his master and learned that the way to exorcise the demons was to find Sun Wukong (Huang Bo), who was trapped under the Five Finger Mountain.
