The struggling Yu opera troupe received an exciting news: a Hong Kong group invited them to perform. However, just as they were about to set off, the troupe leader died in an accident, and the Yu opera troupe was disbanded. The three good brothers in the troupe: Ma San (Li Yixiang), Liu Bing (Yao Lu), and Si Hai (Jin Hong) also ended up unemployed.
After losing his job, Ma San reluctantly took up fighting chickens as a means of making a living, while his wife Da Hong (Xiao Xiangyu) took on two jobs, dreaming of going abroad; Si Hai's wife Su Mei (Xu Fan) went to Shenzhen to develop, causing a gradual estrangement between them; Liu Bing opened a photo studio with his father-in-law's money, but he was dissatisfied with his amateur photographer status.
