Despite her father being a renowned infidelity investigator and having witnessed countless faithful relationships end in disappointment, Eliane (Audrey Hepburn) still holds endless hope and longing for love. She even believes that only those relationships that are knowingly immoral yet still faced with challenges can be considered true love. By chance, Eliane meets her father's investigation subject, Franken (Gary Cooper) — a charming playboy who is adept in the game of love.
