In the late stages of World War II, Allied pilot Owen (Paul Kersey) is forced to land at the foot of the Great Wall after his plane is hit by a Japanese warship. In a life-threatening moment, he is rescued by the Eighth Route Army and local residents. Soon, soldier Heizi (Wang Xinjun) and English-speaking female medic Anjie (Ning Jing) are ordered to escort him to the base. To cross the Yellow River, Heizi first takes Owen and Anjie back to his hometown, where they encounter numerous obstacles and nearly lose their lives. Through their interactions, Owen gains a deeper understanding of China and gradually falls in love with the beautiful, intelligent, and strong Anjie. Just when they thought they could safely cross the Yellow River, the Japanese troops launch a frenzied attack against them.
