The cute and quirky little boy (played by 郝绍文) can't stand his father's new wife and starts blaming himself, leading him to run away from home. While wandering around, he meets the school janitor Uncle Da (played by 吴孟达), who reluctantly takes him in. Uncle Da has a crush on a blind flower seller (played by 朱茵) and pretends to be rich by buying flowers from her every day, hoping to help her in any way he can. The school where Uncle Da works has a group of unruly students that no teacher can manage, so the principal offers a reward of 500,000 to hire a new teacher. Uncle Da learns that the blind girl's surgery costs exactly 500,000, and facing the troublesome students, he decides to learn some skills at 乌龙寺 with the little boy. Upon returning, Uncle Da indeed manages to teach the students to be well-behaved. However, to help a student 阿武 (played by 金城武) stand up to his rival, Uncle Da gets expelled for helping 阿武 to hypnotize and fight. The little boy suggests stealing 500,000 from his own home, but the plan fails. In an effort to help Uncle Da escape, the little boy is caught by his father...
