The story takes place in the late 1920s. Huang Yinggu (played by Zhang Jinling) lost her parents to oppression by a local tyrant in her childhood. Unwilling to be a "wishful bride" in the rich man's house, Huang Yinggu escaped from danger and found refuge in the home of a retired martial artist, where she mastered various martial arts. Years later, after her master passed away, Huang Yinggu led her fellow disciples to rob the rich and help the poor, becoming a formidable hero known in the green forest. Later, she was enlisted by the Red Army and took on the role of commander of a Workers' and Peasants' Red Army regiment. An old revolutionary, Liu Qinglin (played by Li Chengbin), was sent as a Party representative in her team, marking her path toward revolution.
